DIY (Do It Yourself)

We can't resist a good DIY project.

In fact, our entire lifestyle revolves around one home improvement do-it-yourself project after another.

Here is a collection of our recent DIY experiences.

Be your own contractor. Start with raw land and build your dream house. This was our California adventure.

Cover a deck. It may not seem like much, but it helps extend the outdoor season by allowing you to play outside when it rains.

Save a stream. If you have a drainage ditch on your property, consider restoring it instead of throwing in a culvert and burying it. The environment will thank you for it.

Buy a fixer-upper ("diamond in the rough"). Here's the story of our Oregon Adventure.

Curb Appeal
It took 2 years, but the exterior is finally finished.

Indoor/Outdoor Room
We finally finished something! YEE-HAH! This room took 9 months, working part time.

Saltillo tile
This was probably a mistake--very high maintenance--but we love it.

Garage workshop
Since we were living in the 5th wheel, parked out front, Bob had the luxury of turning the garage into a workshop before tackling the house projects.
Lay a patio.

Flower Bed

Build a porch.
Can't have too many porches when you live near the Oregon coast.

Restore a wood stove.
